The Mazda CX-50 is a stunning new midsize SUV from Mazda. Alongside new “CX” models such as the luxo-barge CX-90 and three-row CX-70, the CX-50 offers the amenities and style of its more expensive siblings without the sticker shock. A highly-rated 9.5 out of 10 by Car and Driver, the CX-50 comes with a 2.5 liter four cylinder that is either naturally aspirated for 187 horsepower or turbocharged for 256 horsepower. Both versions have a six speed auto. Apple and Android smartphone integration to the 10.3 center display are standard. All-wheel drive is standard, and the CX-50 is a very fun vehicle to drive for the SUV segment, sharing a platform with the smaller CX-30.
The CX-50 has a 5-star safety rating with the NHTSA, and is a 2023 IIHS top safety pick. The CX-30 offers 24 MPG city and 30 MPG highway in base trim, and 23/29 MPG for turbo. The base 2.5S Select CX-50 starts at $30,300 msrp and includes a ton of standard features. The 2.5S, 2.5S Select Sport, and 2.5 S preferred all come with the standard 187-hp SKYACTIV 2.5 liter inline four and 6 speaker Mazda Harmonic Acoustics audio system. All models have LED headlights and LED taillights, full power options, push button start, rain sensing wipers, and all but the 2.5S have 18 inch alloy wheels and dual zone (vs. single zone) air conditioning.
Seven colors are offered, including machine grey metallic (+$595), soul red crystal metallic (+$595), wind chill pearl white (+$450), polymetal grey metallic (+$450), zircon sand metallic (+$450), jet black mica, and jingot blue metallic. The turbo engine comes in the Turbo Premium, Turbo Meridian, and Turbo Premium plus trims Premium gets real leather seats, leather wrapped wheel, gear selector, heated seats, and heated steering wheel. Turbo trims start at $38,000 msrp, making the entry level engines more attractive for many buyers.
Right now Mazda has a host of special offers on the CX-50. These include lease deals on CX-50 2.5S Select, as well as low APR’s on remaining 2024 CX-50s.
