Kias have gotten to be stylish rides, and the refreshed Sorento SUV is no exception. This mid-size offers an optional three rows of seats and optional all wheel drive, at an affordable price point to boot. Right now, Kia is pushing a number of incentives on the Sorento, especially on the outgoing 2023 model. You just might be able to get an amazing price on a brand new SUV.
Kia landed in the United States in the mid-nineties guns ablazing, with the compact Sportage SUV and the highly affordable Sephia. Years of embarrassment in the lives of schoolchildren whose parents could not afford a new Ford Explorer or Taurus ensued. Times have changed, however, and as with its corporate partner Hyundai (which owns a controlling stake in Kia), Kia is now dusting its automotive rivals.
Enter the refreshed Sorento: Americans of all classes can now haul their family and their gear in an affordable SUV starting at $31,990 msrp for the LX. This SUV is a far cry from its predecessor, which bowed out in 2020, a none-too-attractive embarrassment. The new Sorento debuted in 2021 and it gets an attractive exterior refresh this year. The Sorento handily undercuts the mid-size SUV competition like the Explorer and the Pilot, which start at $36,860 and $39,900, respectively. The LX trim has 8 speed automatic, LED projector headlights, smart cruise control, and seating for seven passengers.
The Sorento has a handful of powertrain and engine options to choose from, including standard gas as well as hybrid, in addition to front or all-wheel drive. Hybrid models can go 32 miles without using the gas engine, and the standard powerplant is a 191 horsepower 4 cylinder, while there is an optional turbocharged unit rated at 281 hp. Other standard features include a 12.3 inch touchscreen display that has smartphone connectivity, smart key with push button start and rear parking sensors.
The Sorento has five trim levels, including a captain’s chair upgrade that has 2nd row “slide flex” seating and faux-leather trim. Get crazy with the options and you’ll be in the $46,390 starting msrp SX Prestide trim model, with heated second row captains chairs, memory and power front seats, LED head and taillights, genuine leather seats, Bose audio, and a host of other features that make this Kia SUV the envy of the parking lot.
X-Pro SX Prestige trim can take you off-roading, and includes 17 inch wheels with all-terrain tires, torque vectoring all wheel drive, 8.2 inches of ground clearance, and can tow 4,500 pounds. It also has a panoramic sunroof and comes with the 2.5L turbo engine, rated at 281 horsepower.
The Sorento is available in road rider brown, jungle green, midnight lake blue, dawning red, wolf grey, glacial white pearl, ebony black, everlasting silver, and gravity grey. There is even olive brown leather seat trim available.
Right now Kia has a host of offers on the Sorento. You can lease from $269/month for 24 months with $3,368 down for the LX model, or you can finance from 1.9% APR for 48 months plus $1,000 of VIN-specific bonus cash. Be sure to check your local dealers for the best pricing available; the refreshed Sorento debuted for 2024, and the 2023 models have to go. Kia’s website lists $269 a month on any remaining LX models to lease, and a very low .9% APR for 48 months on 2023 Sorento, as well as bonus cash. They also have a $500 military discount.
